Chapter 6: Chess by Computer

What is chess by computer? Really it is very simple, the computer is your opponent, and you play chess with the computer as your opponent.

To give you a little background of why this chapter is in this book, I will first tell you about my background. I assume that you are no different than most people, thus you have already figured that I must have something to do with computers. You’re right, I do. I have worked with these giants for many years and have designed many systems and programs for the computer. The thing that has interested me the most in the years I’ve worked with and for these machines, is their ability to solve complex problems with ease and speed. It should be known that a computer cannot do more than what Man tells it to do, which is done via programming.

Soon after I designed and marketed the game of 3-D Chess, I began thinking of how to place the game on a computer. Computers playing chess isn’t anything particularly new as computers have been playing chess for quite some time; however, the computer loses the first games more than it wins. The reason for this is because like Man, it must be educated. Man teaches the computer how to make moves, but because the computer can’t actually think, it must evaluate statistically Man’s positions on the boards and then make a move that it statistically calculated correct. Because Man can change his mind, he can undo all that the computer calculated, and the computer can lose. Whenever the computer makes a move and whenever man makes a move, the computer stores those moves in its memory or some device capable of saving information. Each time the computer plays a game of chess or any other game for that matter, it refers back to its storage locations to see if this has happened before. If it has and the computer had won using a particular move, it will make the same move again. If the computer lost the last game on that move, it will make a different move. So now you can see that eventually the computer will become perfect, but only after experience.

I have developed a different way for the computer to play chess. I used the 3-D Chess game for the computer to play because of the technique I designed for the computer to play by. I call the system of playing a “Think System”. The reason for the name “Think System” is because, if effect only, the computer thinks out its moves and will lose less than 10% of the games it plays even if it is the first game. Because the computer can win immediately without going through the learning process as the other versions must do, I felt that I would give the computer a more complex game. Also because the computer which will be used, is extremely fast, it can handle the more complex game faster than the present systems can handle regular chess. The present computer systems take up to 10 minutes to make a move. My system will take the computer only seconds to make its move and tell his opponent if it will win the game in the next three moves, and if so, what the move and moves will be.

I actually can’t get into more of this system as it is far too complexed, however, I did want to make you aware of the fact that there are games of chess played on computers, and there is a 3-D Chess game system designed for the computer.
